Reverse of the Curse

Transcript:

Jesus died a very painful death on the cross, but his blood paid the price for our sins.

We’ve been talking about the reasons that Jesus is the only way to salvation, but we haven’t discussed the most important one:

Jesus is the only one who conquered death.

If you want eternal life, then you should probably follow the guy who had power over death. Again, no one else can make this claim. Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to over 500 people. This, perhaps more than any other reason, is why we believe he is who he said he is.

I’m going to bring up the Pixar story structure again, because the moment has finally arrived where the serpent gets crushed. Something very interesting begins to happen – Jesus starts to reverse the curse.

5) He crushes the head of the serpent – his heel was bruised on the cross, but his death and resurrection crushed Satan’s head.

4) Because of our sin, there was pain and suffering and death. But Jesus conquers death.

1 Corinthians 15:54-55 says,

“Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”

3) Because of our sin, our relationship with man was ruined. But Jesus brings peace among men – he was called the Prince of Peace. In Luke 2:10, the angels declare that Jesus has arrived with this song,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

2) Because of our sin, our relationship with God was ruined, but thanks to the work of Jesus our relationship with God is restored, right? The curtain that separated us from God was torn in two. We have access to the Father, once again, through Christ.

1) Where Adam and Eve sinned and rebelled against God, Jesus never sinned. And because of his work, someday we will be completely restored and will live in eternity without sin ourselves. We will go back to spending time in God’s presence, and to ruling alongside him as heirs to his promise.

How can we believe all of this is true? Because of the resurrection.

So now what? If you want to be reconciled to God, what is required of you? How do you ensure the blood of the lamb covers your sins? We’ll conclude Lesson 2 with one final video on that very topic.
